Stop Dog From Biting
It’s important to be sure you know how to stop dog biting. You really don’t want a dog biting you or your kids and you certainly don’t want him to bite a guest at your home. If you have a dog, be it a new puppy or a long term member of the family, that has a biting problem the you have to take care of that problem instantly. You have to stop dog biting right away and never let up.
The big issue here is that you don’t want your dog to bite someone. It doesn’t matter if your were walking your dog, or if he was accidentally released by himself, if he bites someone he could be euthanized. that’s the last thing anybody wants to happen but it can happen. There are various tips you could use to stop dog biting, although there are several specific ones that usually work the best. The first method to try is giving a chew toy to your dog. That seems like an awfully simple fix, doesn’t it? Well it is! This technique doesn’t even occur to many dog owners, but it works. If your dog is without his own chew toy, he will probably look for different objects to get his teeth onto.
Additionally, you will want to ensure you start training in advance. Of course, we don’t always get a dog as a puppy, so if you get an adult dog you can’t go back a and do puppy training with him. Still, you need to start your training as soon as possible and not wait at all if you don’t have to. The sooner you start training your dog the easier it will be for both of you. You will teach better when things are fresh and problems haven’t yet happened and the dog will find it easier to learn if he hasn’t established bad habits already.
You need to let you puppy know that his biting hurts you. When the puppy gives you a bite say “no” or “ouch” in a loud, sharp tone. You could even try giving a yelp similar to a dog would when it feels pain. A yelp is exactly what your dog would do if another dog bit him too roughly while romping about. This will show him that he has bitten too hard, and it will probably result in his being gentler if it should happen again.
Now, if your puppy doesn’t respond to your reaction as you’d hoped and ends up biting again repeat your exclamation and leave the room for a while. This way your puppy will understand that if she bites her playmate will leave her. Again, you’re doing the same thing that a canine playmate would do if played with too roughly and bitten too hard.
Use any of the above techniques in your training and you’ll be able to stop your dog from biting and train him to the good behavior you want to see.
