Helping Your Paralyzed Dog To Be Mobile

[ 0 ] September 2, 2010 |

If people can sit for quite long and still feel much more comfortable, this is not the case for dogs.  Dogs are naturally mobile creatures, unlike human beings who can still have fun by just watching TV or using the computer, and they love to roam around and explore as their way of enjoying life.  This is why when your dog gets ill or becomes disabled, their sadness over their condition would clearly show. A paralyzed dog is same as a dead one. It cannot go around the house to follow whatever it is that provokes its sense of smell. It is not allowed to run and play with you no matter how much it wants to.   In more ways than one, your dogs ceases to live a dog’s life.

As a pet lover, you certainly cannot take away all the joys from your paralyzed dog.  You can opt to provide your dog a means to roam around if there is no clear cut solution to what causes the disability or paralysis of your dog from the modern technology of veterinary medicine.  This you can do by attaching your dog to a dog wheelchair. This contraption enables your dog to wander around and be a natural, playful pet.  This may also encourage your dog to exercise its muscles and bones, a necessary activity so that the paralyzed parts can be rehabilitated and the healthy parts maintained.

However, you should not expect your pet to immediately love its dog wheelchair and use it to run around the house.  In fact, at first, it may be uncomfortable for your pet.  For a short while, you can act as a coach to your dog, motivating it to walk around the place and try the new contraption. You’ll be surprised at how your dog responds to your effortless coaching.  After all, all that it takes is a bit of encouragement and your canine pet will right away do what it has always wanted to do which is to run around the house and the yard to have fun and to guard your property as well.

There are a number of dog wheelchairs you can choose from online. Browse now!
