Affenspincher
A dog breed that originated in Germany during the 17th century was made famous by its monkey-like expression. This little terrier type dogs was in fact dubbed as Monkey Dog. In France, breed enthusiasts lovingly call the dog Diablotin Moustachu which means mustached little devil. This dog was primarily developed to be a rodent catcher. During the early years of the breed’s existence, these dogs are commonly seen in barns, in stables, granaries and in kitchens keeping these places free of rodents.
Although this breed was made famous by its clownish personality, it soon became apparent that the dog is not only affectionate but has an extraordinary intelligence as well. If your choice for a pet is a dog that will provide the family with comic relief, then the Affenpinscher is the dog for you. The dog is a showoff and would take every opportunity to catch anyone’s attention. For that reason, the dog has left its modest corner in barns and stables to be the pampered and highly valued pets that are provided comfortable accommodations including the laps of its adoring owners. An Affenpinscher however, is a sly dog. The astute dog can play up and take advantage of the master’s weaknesses. For so small a dog, it can exploit the family’s weak spots and in no time would conquer the entire household. This dog makes a loving and devoted pet but owners have to be aware of this little dog’s tough personality. It would never be wise to spoil this pet as the dog can become a small tyrant. An Affenpinscher that cannot have its way will be in a huff all day. This dog will not put up with any kind of teasing especially from unfamiliar faces. The tough personality that earned this dog the “mustached little devil” name can be corrected with consistent firm training and lots of loving care.
An Affenpinscher belongs to the toy dog breed . The size makes this dog an ideal choice for an apartment dweller. However, unlike other toy breeds, the dog has a rather high exercise requirement. Owners of this breed have to make sure that the pet is given opportunities to exercise daily. Remember, an Affenpinscher is a hyperactive breed. Apart from the cuddly size, an Affenpinscher forms a strong bond with its human family so that family members may take turns in cuddling the dog. An Affenpinscher not given the chance to let off steam will turn into a destructive dog. With the right training and care, the Affenpinscher will be a pet any owner would love to have.
