If you have recently bought a new puppy you are probably recognising early on the importance of behavioural training.

You will find that although widely available, puppy training courses can be expensive. If you want to train the dog yourself you will find that the pet store is awash with puppy training products. If you decide to train your dog yourself you really should buy a good puppy training manual from your local pet retailer or bookstore. If your puppy is showing particular traits, such as poor toilet behaviour, then you may benefit from a specialist book on this particular subject matter. If your dog is not quickly toilet trained you will end up with an unpleasant living situation, an unhappy pet and an even more disappointed owner, so you need to nip this issue in the bud as quickly as possible. If there are children in your household then incorporate them into the training routine. This means the dog responds to them in the same was as it does to you.

Obedience training is vitally important, not only for behaviour in the home but also for walks out on a lead. With so many dog leads for sale you may find it difficult to choose the right one for your pet.A retractable dog lead is a great idea for training your puppy good behaviour whilst out and about. You can keep the lead tight so the dog is by yourside, perfect for busy footpaths or close to roads. Alternatively you can let your dog run a little freeer by lengthening the leash.

Poor quality food can have a negative impact on your puppy’s behaviour, so consider the question of pet food closely.A young pup has very specific dietary needs and they require a higher level of fat in their diet to mature dogs, so choose a good quality puppy food. Then you are sure you are feeding your little pet a healthy and balanced diet.Remember that food can be used as a great incentive in the training process, so keep treats to a minimum and ideally give them as a reward for good behaviour. For the sake of your new friend, remember nutrition, teach him good eating habits along while you are teaching him to behave.  Treat him to healthy rewards.
